DG's Story

DesignerGiving was created with one simple idea what if fashion could have compassion?

DesignerGiving is a luxury marketplace with purpose, where buying and selling beautiful fashion helps transform the lives of seriously ill children. Sellers donate a minimum of 10% or more from every sale to one of our chosen children’s charities — turning beautiful, unused fashion into meaningful impact. It is the perfect way to refresh your wardrobe, shop more sustainably and change lives.

Alongside our pre-loved luxury marketplace, DesignerGiving also offers a carefully curated collection of new homeware, gifts and lifestyle pieces. These purchases not only help support the future growth of DesignerGiving, but also continue our charitable mission, with a minimum of 10% from every sale donated across all three of our children’s charities.

At DesignerGiving, we believe shopping should feel good in every sense — combining style, compassion and sustainability in one meaningful platform. More than just a marketplace, we are building a community of people who believe fashion and gifting can be a force for good. We are passionate about creating real, measurable impact, which is why we provide regular updates showing exactly how donations are helping children and families — ensuring transparency, trust and accountability every step of the way.

DesignerGiving was founded by Lucy Chatting, following a deeply personal journey that inspired a decade of fundraising and support for seriously ill children. Lucy’s son, Carter, was diagnosed with Leukaemia in 2016. Determined to give back to the hospital that cared for him, Lucy launched Carter the Brave, a fundraising initiative that has since raised more than £650,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Over the years, these funds have helped support life-changing projects and equipment, including the Handsfree Vocera System, IV Vein Finders, Chemo Cadd Pumps, Mouth Ulcer Machines, GameStations, Amazon vouchers for families, pioneering research programmes and a number of hospital improvements designed to improve diagnosis, reduce pain and enhance children’s experiences during treatment. More recently, Carter the Brave has contributed to the new hospital entrance, the Medicinema, an advanced Ultrasound Vein Finder, research programmes and the CT Intervention Kit — helping improve patient care and outcomes for countless children and families.

Lucy’s dedication has been recognised through numerous honours, including recognition from Birmingham Children’s Hospital, a Carter the Brave plaque at BCH, the Pride of Birmingham Award, and being selected to carry the Commonwealth Torch in 2022. Lucy was also honoured with an invitation to The King’s Garden Party in 2026 — a special moment that reflected not only her personal commitment, but the incredible collective efforts of everyone who has supported Carter the Brave over the years.

With Carter now in remission, DesignerGiving became the natural next chapter — extending Lucy’s passion for helping children through a sustainable, fashion-led platform with purpose.

DesignerGiving is so much more than buying and selling — it is FASHION with COMPASSION!
